Relationship of medicines so very important

A few weeks back, came across one of my friends who was desperate to find relief for her little baby who was in bad health since dentition started. Being a homeopath herself, she could identify the problem and child with Rheum, because the child had sour smelling semi-solid to liquid stools, occasional vomiting, pale face, irritability, and she just could not console her. She gave her Rheum 30 single dose and from the next day itself, child started improving. With some semi-solid stools with greenish color remaining occasionally, she gave her a dose of Chamomilla 30 on 4th day, only thinking that this will make her better and completely alleviate her of her suffering. But the same night, the child started with enhanced diarrhea and vomiting, just as earlier. The child grew paler and had sickly sour smell all over. She repeated Rheum 30 and child was better again. Then my friend in next week had to go out of station for some work of hers for a couple of days and she therefore left her child to her grandma. Grandma being acquainted to homeopathy always was enthusiastic in treating her people at home. The same day night after her mother left, the child was sleepless. She was crying bitterly and could not be consoled. Knowing the symptom- "excess irritability calls for Chamomilla" grandma gave a dose of Chamomilla 30 to the grandchild. The child slept after some time but next day morning started with diarrhea again. Did you notice what happened? In a sensitive child (or anyone for that matter), use of homeopathic medicines has to be done very cautiously. We had a professor in our college who used to insist a lot on understanding the relationship of remedies. Chamomilla is an antidote of Rheum. Though many symptoms seem similar between the two drugs, Chamomilla antidotes Rheum39s action. Immediately as my friend was narrating, I could sense what went wrong. Later we just gave her Rheum 200 single dose and thereafter she is just fine. If needed will follow it with Calcarea carb or leave undisturbed. We really need to work a lot on relationship of remedies than just the symptomatology, not to mess up with the cases in hand, as is rightly said- "Homeopathic failures are the worst failures!"
